Microsoft Excel has too many functions for different fields, and when It comes to date and time functions, it has 23 functions. Today in this lesson I am not performing all of date and time functions, I am Performing only 4 of this functions with step by step guide. For Other Date Functions- Excel 2016, I will cover them in an advanced project with the combination of date and time. I hope you will learn these four basic functions of Excel 2016. So let’s get started.
Today Function shows today’s date. The best thing about today’s function is, if you save that file, after a month you open it, today ‘s function will give you after a month’s date. In order to work with it, type this function: =today() Take a look at the screenshot.
Now Function shows today’s date and time. It is also the same as today function, if you add anything new in any sheet of excel at the same project, now function will update itself to the current date and time. Table of Functions:
In this table, there is a date, Sales Representative, and sales. These are given to us, and instead, they want from us to fill the Year, Month, Day, Month Name and Day Name. So let’s start with Year Function.
Year function looks at the date and tells you which year it is. In order to work with it, type this function at the year area to fill them: =Year(Date). MONTH function looks at a date and tells you what month it is. Its functioning is also the same as Year function. The only difference is, it is used as a month.For better understanding take a look at the screenshot.

Note: “mmmm” converts the number into the month, that’s why I have used.
2nd example of Text for day:
I found the month name with text function, although text function isn’t a Date Functions- Excel 2016, but I have used it to take out the month’s name. In order to find the day name type this function: =text(date,”dddd”). For better understanding take a look at the screenshot.
